Excursions at Rügen

Here we would like to give you a few tips, which activities you should not miss on the island of Rügen.

Hunting lodge Garnitz

The hunting lodge is affectionately called the Krone Rügen and is located in the middle of the large forest area Granitz. The hunting lodge was built between 1837 and 1846 in neo-Gothic style. Today you can hike through the granite forests and admire the unique nature of Rügen. Arrived at the Jadgschloss, the castle museum and the 38-metre-high tower await you. Here you can enjoy a view over the island, the green forests and the sea.

Prora Centrum

Prora is a term that many associate with the times of the Second World War. The KdF seaside resort Rügen was built here between 1936 and 1939. Kraft durch Freude "represented a National Socialist community that was to shape the Germans' leisure time. With this in mind, the building complex of the seaside resort was built in Prora, a district of Binz, but never completed.

Today, the majority of the building is used for other purposes, such as the Museum Prora Zentrum, which provides information on the history of the building and the Nazi and GDR history.

Kap Arkona

Kap Arkona is the northernmost point of the island of Rügen and lies about 45 meters above the Baltic Sea. The cliffs at Kap Arkona consist mainly of chalk and boulder marl and are a unique area monument.

Here you will find three lighthouses:
The Schinkel Tower - here you can also enjoy an exhibition on seafaring and the history of lighthouses during the ascent on the tower's artistic staircase.

The Kap Arkona lighthouse is still a working lighthouse today and with clear visibility you can even look down to Denmark from here.

The sounding tower is located a little off the centre of Cape Arkona, but for all those interested in archaeology the path is worthwhile. Here you will find exhibits from the Ranenburg as well as changing art exhibitions and the glass dome houses a studio.

There are also the Arkona bunker and the naval command bunker, which tell an interesting and exciting story.

There is so much to discover here - so we think you should explore Kap Arkona yourself.

Island Hiddensee

If you are looking for rest and tranquillity, you should take a trip to the island of Hiddensee. Here it is called decelerating, because on the island you only move by bicycle, horse-drawn carriage or on foot. Now ask yourself the question how to get there - simply drive to Schaprode (approx. 40 km from the hotel) and take the ferry to the island.

Already during the crossing and the amazing views of Rügen and the island of Hiddensee you will switch off. On the island itself there are many nature surprises and experiences to discover. For example, on a hike along the 13 km long sandy beach, which invites you to a bath in the Baltic Sea, especially in summer.

An island that radiates so much peace and quiet that you can only come back refreshed.
