Natural Heritage Centre Rügen

Go for a walk through the treetops of the trees and enjoy different wonderful views over the island? You can only do this here at the Rügen Natural Heritage Centre.

On the treetop path you will experience the plants and animals of the island at an altitude of 4 to 17 metres. The treetop path is about 1.2 km long and offers you a variety of learning points where you can learn about the local flora and fauna.

The 40-metre-high "Adlerhorst" lookout tower is also located in the middle of the treetop path, which offers you a view of Stralsund in clear weather.

For all those who want to learn more about the nature of the island, a visit to the 2 exhibitions is obligatory. The permanent exhibition provides you with all the important information about the DBU natural heritage area Prora, while the temporary exhibition is always equipped with exciting new works.

Finally, the theme of nature is rounded off with artistic works on various themes in the KunstGalerie.

A visit to the centre is always worthwhile!

National Park Jasmund with Königstuhl

UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Beech Forests
Nowadays there are only very few beech forests left, which is why the few are declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The beech forest in the Jasmund National Park covers approx. 500 hectares and is characterised by its own diversity of plants and animals.

Discover the unique landscape of the old beech forests, for example on a hike.

Chalk cliffs with king chair
The National Park also includes the famous chalk cliffs of Rügen with the Königsstuhl, which is probably the most famous formation and whose highest point lies 118 metres above the Baltic Sea. From a small viewing platform on the Königstuhl you have a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea. If you prefer a nice view of the Königsstuhl, we recommend the Victoria view right next door. Please note that the views can only be reached if you have purchased admission to the Visitor Centre.

Please always be careful when looking at and photographing the beautiful chalk cliffs.

National Park Centre Königsstuhl (Visitor Centre)
The visitor centre is located directly at the Königsstuhl. Here interesting and exciting adventures await you on 2,000 m² of exhibition space and around 28,000 m² of outdoor grounds.

During your visit to the interactive indoor exhibition you will learn everything about the history of the origins of the chalk cliffs, the King's chair and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Beech Forests. A journey through time that you will only experience here.

In the outdoor area you can marvel at the view over the Baltic Sea, take part in short guided tours, discover a very tall fellow, cross a small adventure course and simply enjoy the unique landscape.
This unique nature is always worth a visit - see for yourself!
